Profile and History
[Back to Company Profile]
Fondedile SpA of Italy is renowned for
introducing mini piles to underpin and preserve historic
buildings and other important structures in the early 1950’s.
These specialist mini piling and underpinning techniques have
since become firmly established as engineering standards
throughout Europe and the United States.
Fondedile specialist techniques such as the Pali Radice mini
piling system where first introduced into the UK market back in
1962 by an association of Fondedile SpA Italy and Sir Robert
McAlpine Limited.
Over the last 44 years, Fondedile have built an impressive
reputation, portfolio and client base as one of the UK's leading
foundation and consolidation specialists, being involved in
numerous challenging projects such as underpinning at the Royal
Arsenal in Woolwich and the Victorian Arches of London's
Waterloo International Terminal, the strengthening of Ely
Cathedral and providing the foundations for the new Millennium
Bridge in Dublin.
In late 2005, Systems Geotechnique Ltd acquired Fondedile from
Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd. The acquisition, which was seen as a
good fit for both companies, has helped to enlarged both the
plant fleet and workforce to help meet client demand and
customer satisfaction with wider specialisations.
The merger with Fondedile has also assisted in making Systems
Geotechnique more recognisable in the London and South East
region where Fondedile has traditionally been very strong.
Fondedile has now been incorporated into Systems Geotechnique
Ltd.
