Systems Geotechnique
was formed in 1999 when Bob Thompson joined forces with Ian Trafford.
Between them, these two Directors have amassed over forty years of
providing cost effective geotechnical solutions on all manner of
ground engineering projects both in the UK and worldwide.
As long standing friends and colleagues, both shared a vision of
establishing Systems Geotechnique to provide clients with a partner
capable of providing economic and practical solutions to their ground
engineering requirements.
Dave Murray (Operations Director), a former colleague of both Bob and
Ian, leads the effort on site maximising the endeavours to deliver a
quality product in the best possible time. Dave has managed site
operations on major projects including JLEP C102, Oresund Crossing and
Devonport Dock anchors.
Recently this trio have been joined by Philip Ball (Company
Development Director) who has had many years of experience with large
established firms. He brings with him experience of projects such as
Harrods Lightwell and is a former member of the BGA Executive
Committee.
Now, with more than 100 people employed, including many leading
exponents from within the industry, Systems Geotechnique has developed
into a respected UK and Eire market leader in the specialist
geotechnical field, with an impressive portfolio of
successful projects and satisfied clients.
In late 2005, Systems
Geotechnique Ltd acquired foundations and consolidation specialist, Fondedile
Foundations Ltd. from Sir Robert McAlpine. The acquisition enlarged both the plant
fleet and workforce to help meet client demand. The merger with Fondedile
has also helped make Systems Geotechnique more recognisable in the
London and South East region where Fondedile has traditionally
been very strong.

Furthermore, arising out of our strong presence in the infrastructure
field and with a marked demand from clients in the railway and
highways sectors we established a structural repair division that is
lead by Andy McGovern. Andy has considerable experience in the field
of cathodic protection, sprayed concrete and structural strengthening
